Hvorfor så mange segl?

På den lille ørkenø, Failaka, ud for Kuwaits kyst har Moesgård Museum de sidste fem år udgravet en handelsstation tilhørende Dilmunkulturen. For fire tusinde år siden organiserede denne kultur handelen mellem de store byer i Mesopotamien og Indien, baseret ikke bare i Kuwait, men tillige i Bahrain og det østlige Saudi-Arabien. Udgravningerne på Failaka er først og fremmest kendt for de mange fine seglsten, små runde stempler med smukt indgraverede billeder, skåret i en blød sten. Når et segl dukker op i udgravningen, stimler alle sammen for at få et første kig på motivet!
